Food & Agricultural Trading New Zealand Limited (“AGRIFOODNZ”) is a unique marketing bridge for New Zealand’s high quality food and beverage exporters enabling profitable growth in capacity, expanded sales and access to established marketing and distribution networks in China.

About AGRIFOODNZ

AGRIFOODNZ is the general partner of the New Zealand Food & Agricultural Capital LP (‘the Fund”), a limited partnership formed with the objective of investing in small and medium-sized New Zealand enterprises (“SMEs”) that export high quality food and beverage products to China. AGRIFOODNZ, as the general partner, acts on behalf of the Fund to manage all aspects of the business.

AGRIFOODNZ is based in Auckland and owned and managed by New Zealanders. We are passionate Kiwis concerned about New Zealand’s continued reliance on commodity export trading and we are determined to ensure that the strong growth opportunities that exist in China for high quality food and beverage products from New Zealand, are fully maximised on a value-added basis.

A key and unique aspect of the Fund’s investment policy is to limit its investment in Kiwi companies to a minority shareholding interest.

Background

If New Zealand is to achieve its growth aspirations over the next 10 years, there is an enormous shortfall in investment for which new funding will have to be found. KPMG in their recent Pathway to Prosperity publication calculate that there will need to be new foreign direct investment of NZD 82 billion over that period. This is the amount that needs to be found, over and above traditional New Zealand investment funding sources such as the NZ Superfund and ACC, businesses’ working capital, bank funding, household savings and Kiwisaver.

This investment funding shortfall will have to come from overseas direct investment sources such as the Fund.
